Our History and Mission

The UNA Midpeninsula Chapter is a non-profit organization that aims to lead the community to a common understanding of UN goals and strengthen US participation in the UN. It brings the UN spirit to our neighborhoods and gives local citizens a voice in the UN. It stimulates local understanding of world issues and facilitates community participation in international change.

The Midpeninsula Chapter of the United Nations Association serves the Palo Alto, California region, including Mountain View, Sunnyvale, Cupertino, Menlo Park, Redwood City, Los Altos, Foster City and Atherton. We sponsor, organize and promote a number of programs and events at local institutions such as schools, universities and libraries, all aimed at raising local awareness of UN principles, values and initiatives.

Our Chapter is run by volunteers. Our facilities include a Resource Center which also houses a library of UN books, journals and articles. Our UNA Store offers an impressive collection of items from all over the world.

We are always looking for enthusiastic members and volunteers to join us in serving the community in different ways. Please refer to the Get Involved page to learn more.
