What does the UN do and how can the UNA help?
The United Nations is on the job and working to help the refugees fleeing horrors from their home countries. So many of those refugees are women and children. We want to save the children through education. Education brings understanding and peace – and builds futures. Our UNA Chapter has committed to raising funds for a school in the world’s largest refugee camp in northern Kenya to provide that education.
The United Nations has the Refugee Crisis as its primary focus for 2017.
Can the United Nations begin to achieve success in important work all over the world if it does not have support from United Nations Associations?
With the UNA-USA’s national Adopt-a-Future Appeal to support refugee education, you can make a big impact with modest amounts:
$250 provides uniforms and school supplies for 10 new students
$750 trains a teacher in child friendly teaching methodology, including classroom support for children affected by childhood trauma
$30,000 builds school for 40 refugee students to study at least 10 years

An entire generation is at stake.
We are in the midst of the worst refugee crisis ever—there are more than 60 million refugees in the world today. The vast majority of refugees are children. And of these children, less than half have access to education.
An uneducated child is a vulnerable child, at risk of exploitation and violence. So many of us have read the horrible stories and seen the images of refugees in need, yet haven’t known how to help. There has been a clear—and very frustrating—lack of a format that connects generous Americans to refugee children in need.
UNA-USA is proud to announce the launch of Adopt-a-Future. After months of careful research and planning, we have identified a list of over 60 schools in 9 countries available to be matched with American communities. Your community—whether it’s your place of work, your child’s school, a retirement center, or place of worship—can adopt a UNHCR school and make a real, tangible difference in the lives of refugee children.
Want to get started today? For as little as $250, an individual supporter can provide 10 students who are enrolling in school for the first time with fresh school uniforms and supplies so they have the tools they need to begin their studies.
So, please don’t wait. Help refugee children get the education and hope for their future that all children deserve. Please donate to Adopt-a-Future now or contact us to get more information on how your community can sponsor a UNHCR school.
Thank you for taking action!
